My Margaritaville..

So, we've lived in Kuwait for the past 4 years.. A dry country. Now that we're home we're going to take full advantage of our God and country given right to booze it up. For homebodies like us, this equates to a well stocked home bar.

I'm looking closely @ this Howard Miller Corner Home Bar (retail around $1700).. It looks like a great out-of-the-way bar that I can easily fit in my dining room. Although, I'm not 100% sure I want to go that route orrrr put it in the bonus room (along with as much fun crap as I can fit in there).

Then, for a more "Bar-ry" option, I'm thinking of this (which I think I can get for under $700) and pairing it with a black mirrored bar back

Some other cool idears..

Probably going to regret this.. *edited*

And yeah.. I did.

Apetito Bueno..

Talking about my future dining room right hurr.. I'll start with the furniture I want (which is going to be super easy on the pocketbook)

For the breakfast nook.. ($399)

http://www.vcf.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?storeId=10001&catalogId=10153&langId=-1&partNumber=1080849&N=4294967222+4294967163+88&Nao=0&Ns=P_Price|0&categoryId=4294967223&referrer=shelfPage

I'm not really concerned about it being a 4 seater. I'm really only going to have it for the kids to eat breakfast and lunch @. For dinners (and dinner parties) we'll use the larger table in the dining room..

http://www.vcf.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?partNumber=1129899&langId=-1&Nao=1&storeId=10001&Ns=P_Price|0&N=4294967222%204294967163%2088&catalogId=10153&categoryId=4294967223&relatedRef=1129872  (Table $420 - Chairs $80 ea.)

I want this set except for I don't want the upholstered chairs, i'll be getting the plain ones. It's bad enough I want the upholstered benches to go with it

($119 ea.)
I'm going to have to come up with some cover for it since the kids will be using it as well. I've had white upholstered seats before. It's just an all around fail of an idea..

But anywho, supposedly this set seats 6-8 comfortably. I only see it seating 6 comfortably really, with 8 as a squeeze but do-able. Oh wells, if I need to have more than 8 people over at a time at that point it becomes a full blown party.

And then, I think this buffet and hutch set is just pure genius. So much utility for such an awesome price ($1400)

So that all takes care of that. Next, which will be much harder, is linens and then utensils and then glasswares (all of which I haven't even looked for yet). However, I have found the dining set I want. I think it's smart to stick with white, as you can always add to it with serving pieces and for the most part have everything still flow but I'm still attached to the idea of color.

I found some multi-hued German dinnerware that I can buy piece-by-piece should breakage happen. They make all the colors I'm interested for communal living space (I have an idea of doing colors based off of chilies and peppers - red, orange, green, yellow). So I think this Waechtersbach line is the thing to go with. I plan on doing each piece of the set in a different color (like, red for the chargers, orange for the plates, yellow for the salad plates, green for the bowls etc etc).

The hope is that it doesn't all look super crazy. I'm already having a heck of a time figuring out the best flowing paint scheme in the house but I think that's a subject for another post.. Ah well, I suppose now the hunt is on for.. Glassware! Which means.. Home Bar is probably next :)

Let's put this on the shelf and come back to it..

I've always known I want a stainless steel backsplash for my range. Surprisingly, sheets of embellished stainless steel aren't all that expensive, which is a bonus because it makes the idea of doing the entire kitchen backsplash in SS a reality. But for the time being I will focus on just the range area. In a perfect world, my range would look something like this..

However, I don't think I'll be afforded enough space to put in a commercial hood like that and I don't think I'll have as much clearance when it comes to the actual backsplash surface.
What I really want, is something like this..
Which I think I can jury rig with some stainless steel sheets and a simple stainless steel shelf like this one found @ Sam's Club for under $100

Will be back to brainstorm this one more in depth later..

Le Laundry..

So I know I don't have a house yet but I have looked at a number and it's looking like I'm going to be in the market for a laundry sink. Never had one but I know now over my accrued years of housework that one would come in pretty frickin' handy, especially with tinyfolk and furryfolk scampering around. I was directed to Lowes for this affordable yet still mildly attractive model..

Then that leads to the whole idea of how to maximize a laundryrooms usefulness. I think it's safe to say, any house we get, the laundry room isn't going to be expansive. I think we'll be lucky to get any kind of cabinetry. My bigger issue is sorting and having the space for that. I want to have a set up where everyone has their own basket that they must take up to their room. Haven't yet settled on what kind of baskets I want but I'm hoping to find something suitable @ Michaels or Hobby Lobby during a basket sale. So, that will come later..
But as long as we're on the subject of laundry rooms, these are the washer dryer duo I have my eye on currently.

The Maytag Performance Series 4.5 cu front loading washer and it's 7.2 cu dryer partner. $810 ea. Wondering if I can get a sweet summer deal on these babies. I will be honest. The thought of using these makes me a little giddy.

**edit - I am currently hemming and hawing over whether I want the maytags or the GEs. Have yet to see either in person as our local Lowes blows but I will post with my decision at the end of next month when we move in! As it were, my new laundry room *is* coming with a set of cabinets and enough room to put a sink in but now I'm not so sure about that. I think I want to use that space for an extra fridge, since I think I'll get infinately more use out of that. Like I thought, it's not going to be a large room so I think I'll be lucky to fit an ironing board and a sorting hamper in there but I have decided that I want this hamper

http://www.amazon.com/Household-Essentials-ML-6445-Woven-Seagrass-Removable/dp/B000P6ABSU/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=home-garden&qid=1306593435&sr=8-1
I found it on Amazon MUCH cheaper than other places I've seen it. And I'm kind of in a "woven" phase right now.. Well, hopefully it's not a phase. I'll be buying a bunch of stuff like this so I better like it for a long while but I digress. I also dont' want to forget that I want a stair basket and I found one in *dun dun dun* rattan
Although, I think I can find this somewhere else for a better price than the one listed on amazon so I'll keep an eye out. And I posted somewhere in the future about wicker baskets from pier one for $20 each. I think those will be what I go with for everyones personal basket, unless I can find something with a top that can stack (would be most ideal)

Tatum's bedding (part uno)

So I'm supposed to be looking for something purple, but then I remembered the idea that I had about rainbow bedding. Now, there isn't much out there but I did think this one was pretty cute. Albeit, it will probably need to be replaced once she reaches 10 or so. IDK how baby-ish this one is but I know she'll like it for now..

And some kind of rainbow canopy work would be cool but it would have to be with a regular bed, not a bunk bed. I'll see what Tatertot likes the best, although my guess is she'll choose "ALL"

And this set is a little busy, but it might be a decent fall back. It's cheap, which means the quality is likely to be as well but IDK.. I guess I could at least try it for that price

Oh and btw, if I had to buy a bed for her right this second, it would be this sweet piece. Omgah, IDC what she would think about it, I want it!

*******

This is crap - need to completely redo my appliance lineup now that I have the house

Say what you want.. On your walls.

I must put this one down for future reference. I just came upon this company called "Uppercase Living" and they make vinyl embellishments that you can buy or create, custom color and stick to your walls or other things (like signs, frames, plates, mugs, windows.. whatever!).

I'm probably going to end up going crazy with this stuff, there's so many good ideas for all kinds of rooms. I'm also not a big fan of too many frames on the walls/hanging shit so this idea appeals to me in a big way. I love that you can completely customize everything to fit your space!

Bedroom canopy..

For all of my life, I've always wanted a canopy bed. There's just something about them that cosies up the idea of a sleeping space. @ this point in my life, being in grown up world and actually having to work hard in my day to day, this concept seems like a good way to throw a premium on the closing of my days (aka, nighty night time). I am on a quest to create the comfiest/most romantic bedroom that I can conjure, and my first idea is to make a canopy. These are a couple of the styles that I'm envisioning..

This one looks like one of the more simple and realistic ones that I could do by myself. With the bedding I have in mind, I'm thinking of doing a cream or brown fabric, something like silk perhaps..
This looks like something I might have to order, at least the framing for the crown. But it looks like something my husband might like. The only downside is the fabric backing. I was hoping to put some wording and/or a shelf above the headboard. Maybe I could do it just with the crown, no backing.
Ooh, how regal!
A shorter version..
Seems like an even easier version..
Can I just stop to say, I WANT this friggin bed!
This is a great idea, just buying a basic crown like that and then fixing sheer drapery to it. One of my uncles is a fantastic carpenter. I wonder if I could have him fashion me something like this..
And finally, it's not living up the potential of a canopy but it would certainly be the easiest option of all. Forget that this is a true canopy framed bed, you could create this same draped look with something as simple as two hooks and a length of fabric

Okay, well that's what I have so far. Will be hard to narrow down but I'm sure any of these options will look great.
